Punishment Energy
Do you have a tendency to punish yourself?
All too often, we have learned that punishment is necessary or useful.
Maybe you think:
“It helps us get better.”
"It helps society.”
“It serves someone getting what they deserve” or
"I’m bad. I deserve it.”
And so on.
If you have been punished in the past and believe this, then surely your mind might be on the lookout for getting the punishment you deserve.
The Energy of Punishment
Punishing is not just a consequence.
It carries an emotional charge.
An intention to inflict suffering.
It implies the person deserves pain and suffering.
If this kind of energy comes at you from someone else, by directing their anger or resentment towards you, this also implies that they are the ones who get to judge what you deserve.
They are superior (and you are therefore inferior), which it false.
We have all experienced this from others.
And likely done this to others.
But what if we adopt a new approach?
New Approach
I do not deserve any punishment- EVER.
If I mess up, I’ll learn. I’ll take accountability and try to repair.
If you adopt this approach, how might your life change?
How might your surroundings change?
Adopting this approach does not mean you will tolerate abusive behavior.
Adopting this approach does not mean you will have no “discipline.”
On the contrary!
Once you refuse to participate in punishment energy, then
You stop doing it to yourself.
You stop doing this to others.
You stop allowing this in your relationships towards you.
Because your values include your value!
Self-Leadership includes the ability to look at what we have learned and question it as part of taking accountability for our lives.
This means we have the capacity learn and unlearn.
Lots of love to all,
